IBM TS7700 TS7740 TS7720
IBM TS7700 TS7740 TS7720 Virtual Tape Drives for IBM Mainframe System z platform. The IBM TS7700 Virtualization reconfigures the relationship between a physical tape drive, storage media, and the IBM mainframe software applications that read and writes data. The TS7700 Cache uses disk drive modules (DDMs) as storage media and the TS7700 Server emulates the function and operation of IBM 3490E tape drives. These TS7700 emulated tape drives are called virtual tape drives, and appear to the IBM mainframe host as physical tape drives. Data written or read from a TS7700 virtual tape drive resides in a virtual volume on the DDMs in the TS7700 Cache. To a IBM z host application, a virtual volume appears identical as a physical tape volume. The size of virtual volumes on the TS7700 is dependent upon the size of data received from the IBM mainframe host; virtual volumes will only be as large as necessary to hold the data. These virtual volumes increase the efficiency of layered storage and permits physical tape volumes to maximize available storage.

All IBM Mainframe System z and Storage is IBM certified, includes warranty and can include an 1 or 3 year IBM maintenance contract with purchase.
